Is it the intention of the developers that the plague spores can only be defended against using strategically placed plasma turrets and adequately supplied hospitals? That's all very well, but what ever happened to hand weapons and the ability for the colonists to be able to defend themselves with plasma rifles?

I would suggest having space marine outposts capable of being equipped and manned for the task of defending the base internally against such enemies or for the colonists to be able to grab a weapon from the nearest locker in their own defence.

Alternatively, if that is not the final intention then what about having automatic internal blast doors that can be used to quarantine off an area, thereby stopping the plague spores from spreading beyond a certain area? Surely that would have to be a prerequisite for the safety of the base anyway in case of a internal explosion or external shard impact? We are talking about a planet with a predominantly carbon dioxide atmosphere outside and would be almost instantaneous death without an oxygen mask.

Are they unreasonable requests? What do you think?

These are all good ideas, and ones we've considered in the past.  Rifles are unlikely but some additional buildings to help defend against plague spores might be possible at some point in the future.  It's unlikely to happen before launch as we're trying to lock things down to get out our simultaneous launch, but well worth considering for updates and/or DLC.

Thanks for your reply Paul and I can understand that it must be pretty much full on for you guys at the moment trying to keep to schedule. I am pleased you are considering such improvements and look forward to seeing there implementation in the future.

In the meantime, do you have any plans for a political arena or building for the colonists to possibly have some sway on the decision making for the governor of the colony? Maybe political missions can be a part of the continuation as the governor and some of those missions enhancing the overall storyline, little by little and piece by piece, and working in a similar way to the expedition building?
